Wed. Sept. 29 - Sunday October 3, 2010
Wed. April 27 - Sunday May 1, 2011 |
A natural follow-up course for photographers who have previously joined Frans for a workshop or who qualify based on a portfolio review. This workshop is geared for those who want to learn to use photography as a visual language and to combine images and ideas to create stories. Frans will introduce participants to different ways of interpreting the natural world with a camera. He will share his unique approach to photography, which applies creative innovations to the traditions of visual storytelling. Participants will learn how Frans conceptualizes images to express personal, editorial, and scientific ideas, and how those principles can be applied to landscape, wildlife, close-up, and environmental photography, both close to home and in the field. Frans will use his own work from three decades of assignments for National Geographic and many other clients, along with the work of other artists, to illustrate his ideas during presentations. Every participant will have the opportunity to create a picture story and have the images critiqued by Frans during both group sessions and individual reviews. Instruction will also cover advanced digital camera techniques and digital workflow, including presentations by our team of expert assistants, Jason Bradley, Paul Zaretsky, and Kevin Osborn, all professional photographers with a wide range of skills, who provide one-on-one assistance both in the field and in the studio.
