People in the Netherlands and Belgium can vote for their favorite image.  There will be two winners of the Frans Lanting Award: The panel of judges have selected one (still a secret), and the “People’s Choice” winner will be decided by popular voting on the National Geographic Netherlands-Belgium website.

The two winners will be announced on November 26, on Humberto Tan’s RTL4 Late Night Show, broadcast live from Amsterdam’s historic Hotel Schiller on the Rembrantplein.  I will take both winners on a workshop outing to the Oostvaardersplassen, a unique wild reserve in Holland, and will mentor both winners on a special project of their choosing.

The Frans Lanting Award was established by National Geographic and World Wildlife Fund in the Netherlands.  In addition to me, the panel of judges included TV talk show host Humberto Tan, Dutch astronaut André Kuipers, National Geographic Netherlands editor in chief Aart Aarsbergen, and photographer and TV presenter Sacha de Boer.  It was a pleasure to work with them all on this event—and we were all impressed with the range of talent shown in the top 25 images.
